My name is Dr. James Fojt; I was born at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas and grew up in Richardson, Texas. I did my undergraduate work at Texas A&M University, in College Station, receiving a degree in psychology with a minor in biology. Later I pursued a master’s degree in Pharmacology at Baylor University before entering medical school.
I initially had an interest in research and published in the Journal of Periodontology. My research specially focused on phenytoin and cyclosporine and the possible molecular mechanism of drug-induced gingival hyperplasia (abnormal growth of excessive gum tissue). This was also presented at the International and American Dental Research Conference in San Francisco.
As time went on, I later realized that my passion was with patients – with people and not in the laboratory; thus, I pursued a career in medicine. I went to Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona and did my Internship/Residency at the University of Texas at Galveston (UTMB).
My specialty was Internal Medicine, and I became a hospitalist, focusing on hospitalized patients. Over the years, I worked at multiple hospitals in the Metroplex and all-around Texas. In 2020 I began working in the outpatient setting, at Grapevine Internal Medicine.
My hobbies are martial arts and scuba diving.
I look forward to seeing you at IntraCare Health Center – Grapevine.
